Frame alignment
In an E1 channel communication consists of sending successive frames from the transmitter
to the receiver. The receiver must receive an indication showing when the first interval of
each frame begins so that, since it knows which channel the information corresponds to in each
time slot, it can demultiplex correctly. This way, the bytes received in each slot
are assigned to the correct channel. A synchronization process is then established that is known
as frame alignment.
